How to get row group under another row group in column

  • Hi

I'm trying to figure how to add a row group under another row group similar to the second report shown in the below URL. In that user was able to create Product Sub Category(Bike racks, Bike stands, etc) under Product Category(Accessories, Bikes etc) something like two groups nested inside each other (Category and Subcategory). I was able to generate that as in two different columns one Product Category and second column for Product Sub Category but could not achieve that in the same column. I appreciate if someone could let me know how that needs to be setup

    Thanks in advance!

  • Basically I do it exactly the same as you already have, but....

After I have 2 columns, I cut the data from the outer group and then put that data for the outer group in the same column as the child group. I do not delete the original outer group column I leave it empty and then I simply collapse it to a width of zero. If I delete it I end up having trouble getting column headers to repeat properly from page to page. Then after that I go to the textbox with the child grouping data in it, and I add a padding to the textbox properties of 5 or 10 px so that the data indents.

  • Can you please explain this portion of your message a little bit in detail? " "I cut the data from the outer group and then put that data for the outer group in the same column as the child group. I do not delete the original outer group column I leave it empty and then I simply collapse it to a width of zero. If I delete it I end up having trouble getting column headers to repeat properly from page to page."

I could not figure how you set that up.

  • Cut, as in cut and paste.

Cut or delete the data from the text box of the outer group, and paste it in the outer group row level immediately above the inner group data. Then collapse the width of the outergroup textbox which is now empty.
