Microsoft admits that there was a bug with SQL 2008 Standard version. Per Microsoft's recommendation I installed SP2 but still I get the following error message when I try to edit my TDS file in BIDS 2008 SP2:
Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document:
To design Integration Services package in Businesss Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), BIDS has to be installed by one of these editions of SQL Server 2008: Standard, Enterprise, Developer, or Evalution. To install BIDS, run SQL Server Setup and select Buisness Intelligence Development Studio.
I followed the instruction above and made sure BIDS was installed. I still get the above error message. Can you please help?

Did you upgrade the DTS package to SQL 2008 or are you trying to edit a SQL 2000 DTS package? Also, when you appllied SP2, did you apply SP2 to everything or just the database engine?

I am creating new DTS packages from scratch. I downloaded SP2 from Microsoft and followed the wizard. The upgrade process went successfully. I am not really sure if the upgraded was applied to everything or just the database engine? Is there a way to double check this? Thank you.

found this on one of microsoft's blog sites
Under the Setup folder of SQL Server 2008 installation files, there is a exe file named vsshell.
--try running it, and rerunning sp2. Do you have any other versions of VS or SQL on this box?

Yes, I do. I used to have the VS 2005 and SQL 2005 on my machine; then I upgraded to 2008. I will try to locate the files and run them when I get home. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide support.
