I have a question about applying a service pack2 on active/active node. we have clustA and clustB servers and each node has named and default instance installed so how many sp2 I need to install on each server and how?

You will need to install SP2 on each node. When installing, you can select which instances to apply it to - you would normally select all. (I just went through this on a cluster with three instances.)

Have you tried the documents related to installing the SP on MicroSoft's site? What have you tried?

I checked on google, microsoft site , many other sites and I got the really good documents but I am not getting the clear picture of how you choose the instance.

During the install of the SP, you will have a screen showing all of the installed instances, with check boxes beside them, as well as the common components. The common components check box is checked and dimmed - they will be installed. You can select any or all of the instances to upgrade.
