How to apply a SQL password to mulitple users

  • We have a software call Freedom dictaphone that uses SQL. if we don't apply a password, when our machines get scanned we get hit with about 2000 points for that blank password. But i know i have applied the correct password to this user and has been working fine for months. All of a sudden she is getting scanned with blank password. Does SQL password reset it self after a certain time frame or is there a way to add the password to the default group within the registry to that it applies to all profiles.

    thanks

  • Are you talking about an SQL Server account password, or a Windows domain password, or something else?

  • its the SQL password . i go through the cmd prompt and enter the password it states it s changed i go to the application it prompts me to login with my SQL login and password . i do it takes it the application runs and runs fine with no prompts them months later they get prompt to enter it and the users dont know this password.

  • SQL can have a password expiration rule in it. Check the properties of the server, on the Security tab. Also check the properties of the login at the server level (not the database level).

  • WE dont have an actual SQL sever. the SQL service manger is installed with the freedom software , so i'm not sure which server i should go to. i do have a server where the freedom software is on. it has its on server. So sorry if i sound confusing i'm not entirely sure to word things. if you can tell me where to look i know i can go there. i see the SQL services manager running on my computer as well as the other users who have this software installed.

  • If I understand you correctly, SQL was installed as part of an application. Your best bet, in that case, is to contact the vendor of the application and ask them about this.

If that's not the case, please clarify.
