I've been through 5 managers...BWAAAA-HAAAAA-HAAAA!!!! You must be tough on managers! :-D:-P
My original manager moved to a different team. Then I was handed off to the development manager who didn't know SQL as well as he thought he did (at least one person I know of decided he didn't want to work for the company when this manager kept insisting a SQL myth was true in an interview). Then I was back under my original manager who then decided to move out of town. Then I was under the "big boss" (my managers' boss) for a half a year as the lone DBA for the company because the other hires didn't work out. (There aren't a lot of qualified DBAs in Jax that can also play well with others). They finally hired a guy for the manager position, but he had to be my peer and coworker while they decided if he would play well with the team. During that time, I think I was temporarily under a fourth guy (but I'm not sure). Finally, the guy they hired to be manager was brought on full time and promoted.
The Big Boss pulled me into his office multiple times during that last round of hirings to make sure I wasn't going to get upset about being passed over. Having seen the hassles managers around here had to deal with at the time (lots of meetings, lots of paperwork, and not enough time to do real work in their 70 hour a week work week), I was fine letting someone else take the position.

... I told them I had bought the dev edition of SQL and gotten the disk to install SSRS for free, so I played with it at home...
If someone tells me that, it'd be a great point in their favor because most people won't invest in their careers in their free personal time.
Do I win the manager competition if I've had 4 and haven't finished my second year here? I hope to get to the fifth very soon. :hehe:

I'm finishing up my fourth year at Redgate and I'm on my fourth manager. Youngsters these days. No staying power at all.
Wow! Time flies. I remember when your change-over first happened. Seems like yesterday.
