How to add the BUILTIN/Administrators Account?

    HI, how do you re-add the BUILTIN/Administrators account after it has been dropped from MSSQL?

    Jeff,

    register your server in Enterprise Manager using any login that has sysadmin privileges, like SA or the one that you created.

    Then go to Security, New Login, Windows type, select your local server as Domain, select Administrators then in the  textboxes replace a string that is your server's name with the word BUILTIN. Go to Server Roles tab and check System Administrators or any other role you want to give them

    Hey, It is as simple that.

     

    Just add "Builtin\Administrators" on Security --> New Logins on type Windows

     

    That's it.

    What if you have forgotten the sa password? Is there any way to reset it?

    yes - if you have a DBA account (mssql or NT auth.) which is mapped to sysadmin server role ...
