32767 databases per instance - found in BOL
Re memory I think it is limited to the amount the OS can use, this information is available on the microsoft technet site. If you are using a 32 bit SQL server and want your SQL server to access more than 4GB of RAM then you need to enable AWE.

You can start creating databases one by one until it says max limit reached.
Suggestion, ask your hiring manager to teach you how to use Google and searching in it.

You'd think he'd get the hint since it is suggested almost every time. 😉

Servers usually aren't all that loud, but the limit would really be what effect it would have on the people around the server. (db = decibles, I guess, since the number of databases is just way too easy to find out.)
I'm not sure how much memory you can have. That's really something most people have to answer on their own. And the quantity usually seems to go down with age.

I guess the Hiring Manager is intelligent enough not to waste his time teaching how to google when some people aren't gonna use it anyways..:-P

He would better be employing someone who knows what is Google and how to use it. (next time)

Personally, I hate it when someone tells me to Google something. Everyone knows that option is there, so it's like they don't want to answer the question.
