I'm having to justify upgrading from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. One of the objections is that we don't have enough time to perform the migration. So, that has lead me to ask you folks, how long does it take to perform a successful migration to SQL 2005?
We've got basically two servers running SQL Server 2000. One is a test server and the other is a production server. The SQL Server instances are not clustered together. So, how long would it take up upgrade/migrate SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005, with the scenario I just gave you?

I've been able to do a fresh install of SQL 2005 in about 45 mins on my test server. Then I was able to restore from backups, except master, msdb, and model.

Chris,
When you say that you did a fresh install, do you mean that you had to uninstall SQL 2000 first? And then do a restore of your databases, in order to bring them up to SQL Server 2005?
