I'm trying to determine the feasibility and scalability of cubes. What is everyone's experience on large cubes? We are re-architecting our business around SSAS so I estimate our cubes will be about 1 TB in size and our fact table up to 40 billion records. Is it realistic to expect that SSAS will perform well with these large data sets?
Please let me know what your experiences and pain points have been with data sets such as these.

We have a significantly smaller set of cubes on one server, when the users start pulling lots of data everything just crawls. Load times where significantly reduced by setting up managed partitions (the only partitions that get reloaded are partitions that need to get reloaded). That was a huge time saver. For that much data, you're going to need to look at a ssas farm.
