Hi torpkev,
would you mind removing the last word before your sig in your prev post?
Kinda crossing the line...
Btw: I'm not sure if this thread is feeding a troll (I'm not the first one being under this impression though - see a few dozen posts back...).

After reading thru this post I came up with 3 interview questions for our friend to study.
1 - What is INTEGRITY?
2 - What is ETHICS?
3 - What do I need to do to improve my standings in both above?
Hope this helps him with his future try at becoming a DBA.

Not a chance. He's already got another thread on this site where he's bragging about the fact that someone provided a link to an article about index fragmentation, and he can now memorize it and use it to look good in an interview.
Of course, if he had two brain cells to bump together, he'd realize he could accomplish that much and more by simply plugging his question into Google, and doing so wouldn't create a record that a future potential employer could get a hold of to prove that he's a fake.
In other words, he's not only incompetent and unethical, he's also making darn sure to create a "paper trail" that proves it.

I received a complaint from the user about some of the postings. While I told him/her that I disagreed with the tact they were taking and that I understood the posts you have made, please remember to keep it professional. You are welcome to complain or not give answer, but no personal attack please.

A thin-skined, fraud of dba, doesn't have much room to complain about anything short of dropping by his house..
<sarcasm>How about this, I am complaining that he is advocating commiting fraud in his employment, and using this forum to advance that. Ooooohhh, I got him..</sarcasm>
Your point about keeping it professional is valid, but I for one dismiss any complaints from him, without consideration. If you are going to advocate pretending to be a DBA in front of DBAs, you have to expect to get a little heat..

Got to agree with that, his posts were not exactly professional, so what can he expect, you dont go onto a forum and say what he did and expect a fantastic reception. He makes a mockey of DBA's everywhere with his attitude.

I did reply that I thought he was being unprofessional, both in his posts, as well as his approach to the job. I asked him to stop and examine his own code of ethics rather than getting upset.
I don't think anyone crossed the line, but I think some people were getting close and I did not want things to degenerate. No need to stoop to that level.

I'll quote myself as Steve did:
A few answers from these forums won't turn a wannabe DBA into a real DBA.
He had the job, so, why bother?
Now we may just hope he will study hard and really become a DBA.
We all had that chance one day, the only difference is we did not fraud anybody, but this is between him and his employer.

If anyone crossed lines other than him, it was me. I questioned whether he has 2 brain cells to bump together, as well as other statements of a similar nature.
Honestly, I can't say that I'd appologize to him for any of that. If he's offended, so be it. I could justify that him being offended is nothing compared to the harm that he's trying to do to others, but since he hasn't actually harmed me personally, that wouldn't ballance anything out. Still, so be it.
Steve, I'll appologize to you if this caused you any extra work or any problems. Definitely not my intent.

No apology needed. I thought that was close, but it wasn't an attack, but more of a comment that I saw out of disgus or frustration.
I haven't heard back, and my guess is our non-DBA will not be back.

I haven't followed a thread like this in a while. It got a little out of hand, but no comments seemed over the line to me.
"Anybody have list of questions on SQL Server, big llist where any possible question about SQL Server present? I have very good memory,I can study and memorize everything, I want to find a good job, make look like I expert on SQL Server. Integration Services too!
Pls don't suggest to search Google, I know about that [Smile] I asking if someone has a big list here for studying?"
It looks like those questions were answered.
Here's another answer:
Read and study
Set up separate dev and test environment if possible
Practice with BOL, MSDN, AdventureWorks et al examples
Experiment
Read and practice
Study and practice
When you think you're an expert post a database (use an alias) you built in a public forum and ask someone to alter it. Figure out the alterations.

Of course, that just scratches the surface, but you've got to start somewhere.
