How Do You Delete A Maint Plan Task Connection No Longer In Use

  • Hi Folks

I have some Maint Plans in SSMS that have more than one available Connection for a Task in a Maintenance PLan. I do not see anywhere where you can delete the connection(s) you no longer need. Does anyone know what I need to do to remove the connections no longer needed ?

    Thanks

    Jim

  • Did you click the "Manage Connections" in the maint plan editor? There's a "remove" button. (see attached)

  • Hi Stsve

i do not see a Main Plan Editor in SSMS

    where is it ?

  • Anybody ?

  • Under Management, there should be a "Maintenance plans" folder. Click it, then double click your plan. It should open in an editor.

  • Hi Steve

    found it

I kept clicking the pull down arrow for Manage Connections instead of clicking the button

    Thanks

  • Hi Steve

    another issue i just saw

i was trying to edit the "Local server connection" and cannot

i had copied this maint plan over from s80 server to ss73 server

i added a "Local Server Connection" for ss73 because sql server did not change the server to the server i was now on and retained the old server for "Local server connection"

any advise on how to fix this issue?

    Thanks

    Jim

  • Is there perhaps a task in the package using this connection?

I don't have a 2005 instance to check this on right now, but can you save/store this in the file system and then flip through the XML, looking for the old connection?

  • Thanks Steve

    appreciate the info

    Jim
