How different OLAP vs Dimensional Modeling? Can any one explain

    I think you have to rephrase this question, online analytical processing/olap is an approach to mda or multi dimensional analytics, which dimensional modelling is an integral part of, to me the question makes as much sense as "what is the difference between supper and dinner".

    OLAP is an acronym for Online Analytical Processing. OLAP performs multidimensional analysis of business data and provides the capability for complex calculations, trend analysis, and sophisticated data modeling.

    Dimensional modeling (DM) names a set of techniques and concepts used in data warehouse design. It is considered to be different from entity-relationship modeling (ER). Dimensional Modeling does not necessarily involve a relational database.

    The 2 are related, but they're 2 different things. To ask how different they are? They 100% different. One should not be compared against the other.
