Help with formatting reports in SSRS

  • Hi ,

Please help me format a report which gives stats based on a daily and hourly basis . (refer to the screen shots attached)

My query groups the data on a daily and then on hourly basis.

I have added two groups in my report, the parent group based on day field and the child group based on the hour field. The child groups visibility can be toggled by the day field as seen below.

What I cant understand and couldn't get around is why the report adds so much space between the two day fields. Please help me to reduce the spacing between items in image one.

  • Any chance you could post up either your RDl or an image of your design environment?

More than likely you're using 10 point font in a row that could contain 100 point font? Shrink your row hieght to something reasonable, and/or you could try setting canshrink=True.

  • Hi there

Make sure 'Show Group Footer' is unticked for both of your groupings...

    Cheers

  • Try setting your textbox layout property canshrink/cangrow to true. and set the height to zero for the row.

  • I know this should be obvious, but has the Layout Height property of that Row been increased? Click on that Row, then go to Properties and make sure Layout / Height is set to about 0.25in.

You can also adjust the Height of a Row by clicking on the Row and positioning the cursor between Row Handles. When you see the vertical double arrow, drag the Row up or down to adjust the Row Height.

In the attached images, it just looks like your Row Height is huge.
