For special reasons I am trying to install SQL 7std on a Win2k box that HAD SQL2K EE with Analysis services. I successfully removed them, rebooted etc.
SQL 7 Installation fails with the following error in the Event log
***********************
The description for Event ID ( 19020 ) in Source ( MSSQLServer ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: ncalrpc:XXXXXXX[LRPC000007d0.00000001].
***********************
Any ideas ????

You might need to remove more stuff. There could be entries or something else in the registry or filesystem that is left over from S2K. Is there a reason that you cannot reinstall W2K?

Should responded, actually it appears that SQL 7 cannot be installed via Remote Desktop. I had to shake the cobwebs off, but suddenly it hit me that maybe 7 wouldn't install remotely.
Went to the console directly and bang, up and running.
