In SQL Swerver 2000...
We are trying to export an extensive query to an .txt file. When we create the Export via the wizard it works fine. But we can not modify the created package transformation. We get an error and there are no columns in the Destination file to assign the columns from the source. Now, I did discover in the query a Create Table statement that generates the columns for the file. The wizard created this but I cannot find it in the package or create one. Under the Destination tab there is a Define Columns button - I press this and enterprise manager dies.
As anyone experienced this problem. Is there a solution?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
Are you running Service Pack 3? This sounds like a bug that was fixed in SP4.

Yes, we were running sp3a and then add sp 4 but the problem persisted. We worked around it by using a bcp command to export the file.

Try searching this site for threads regarding this. I just searched for 'define columns' and found a lot of discussions about this problem. Perhaps one of them will give you a clue.
