HELP: Error 624 Severity 20 State 1

    Help!

    I have a database that has generated the following error.

     

    Error 624 Severity 20 State 1

    Attempt to retrieve row from page via RID failed because RID has a higher number than the last RID on the page.

     

    The server was restarted and now the database is failing to recover.

    Can anyone help?!!!

    Did you have any backups taken?  If so, you may want to restore that backup file to another server, then run DBCCs to see if there was any corruption.

    After waiting over 7 hours for the server to recover the database we gave up and wiped and re-built the server and restored the database from the previous nights backup.

    During the rebuild we found we had 2 sticks of faulty memory, so this may have been the cause of the problem. Cerainly some of the articles we found (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2000/maintain/sqlIObasics.mspx?pf=true) pointed towards this perhaps being the cause.
