I love a question that should have a 100% success. It is a very nice way to get me to research new features.
Thank you for the info, looking forward to this new feature.

Very very good question mascot. That was the only thing I knew about SQL 2014 so i shot it down quickly. ๐
Thats the benefit we get on this platform. We have started getting familiar with the terminology even from the verison which is not yet in the market. Appreciate. ๐

Need an answer? No, you need a question

+1 Haha, that made me laugh this morning. Good question to end the week on; just so happened to be the only feature that I've read about so far.

Nice to see a QOTD that cannot be answered with "it depends".

Nice question - and I think this is the first question we've had about hekaton.

Well, I think the ability to include indexes other that those which support constraints in the create table statement is useful; of course it would have been more useful if they'd done it properly and included filtered indexes and included columns in what could be done at create time. Also making secondary replicas usable for read-only workloads when the primary replica is down may reduce the pain of some otherwise very painful situations. The introduction of IMPERSONATE ANY LOGIN permission is a significant security improvement because it can be denied to high privilege users while still letting the do what they need to be able to do, and the buffer pool extension looks interesting for those who want better performance without going as far from disc storage as hekaton. The rest of what they've done to the Database Engine does look pretty boring (apart from the new hekaton data engine, of course); I haven't yet looked at anything but the data engine.

I'd think the changes to columnstore indexes are also very useful.
