I am wondering if I can get some help. I am configuring log shipping. On the secondary server, I already restored the DB.
From the primary server, I was following all the instructions on how to. Now this is the problem. I click on ADD button to connect to the secondary server. I put in the IP\InstanceName and the DB. I also chose option 3 (No, the secondary database is initialized), clicked OK after all the option, now getting this error. Plz see the attachment.

He who learns only to accumulate wealth, dies an atheist. And he who learns for the sake of action, dies a mystic."[/i]

How did you restore or create the secondary? Did you restore with a NO RECOVERY?

Restored with recovery

The secondary database must be restored with either NORECOVERY or STANDBY.

Let me try that and if I run into any issues, I will just reply to this thread again.

1 more question I have regarding the log shipping.
This is how the primary DB is setup
Full Backup at 1:00AM every night and then transactional log backup between 02:00AM and 12:00AM and then at 1:00 AM full backup. Will it affect the log shipping job or this schedule is ok?

You must remove the primary database from any log backup maintenance plans or jobs. The log shipping plan will create a dedicated agent job that will schedule the transaction log backups.

Got it. Thanks!

For some reason the job is failing. It's taking the Log backup on Primary with no issues but copying job is failing on the secondary server.

what is the error, its most likely filesystem permissions error. Check the job step history and post details back

It was just permission issues. That problem has been fixed.
New problem:
I created a dummy table in the DB (Primary Server) last night. I scheduled it to run every 15 minutes. Tlog backup job ran successfully, copy job ran successfully and restore job ran successfully but when I try to find the dummy table I created, it doesn't exist on the DB on the secondary server, so I have no idea why that it or what could be the reason.

even though the restore job is successful, check the step outputs, you'll likely see errors there saying "log file skipped blah blah blah"

Nope. I don't see any error and any steps skipped. Everything is green all the way.
