Have sql2000, want NOT to upgrade

  • Hi, I have users who need both servers, 2000 AND 2005.

I have a 2000 Developer SP4 on XP, and try to install a 2005 Developer. I cant´t find out, how to avoid to upgrade my 2000 instance and get the 2005 also installed.

Helps will be very much appreciated,

When installing SQL Server 2005, choose the option to install a clean SQL Server Instance. Better, choose a named instance, and remember not to type the existing Instance name

  • Do as Bru suggested. Use a named instance and you should be good to go with both instances.
