has anyone ever seen this before?

  • I have an active/passive cluster env I support. Windows 2003/SQL 2000 8 processor/8 GBs memory on a SAN.

In the eventlog there was a Cluster service error being reported. No actual failover occured but the node for which the instance was running all of a sudden was showing that sql could not gain the 6GBs that are dedicated to it from SQL. Only 2 GBs. In the task manager, it was displaying that the server had 16 processors. I switched over to the other node, everything went back to normal.

  • Hi

What was the error description? Seemshe OS locked the memory and had some issue with hyperthreading reporting wrong configarations of processors. As a result, SQL could not claim back the memory it needs.

As the other node has a clean OS, so thats why SQL worked fine there.

So I guess that it s a OS isssue and SYSADMIN may be help to resolve it.
