    Hi,

     which are the best practices for installing a Sql 2000 Cluster?Servers with 2 or 4 processors?Apllication rules on Cluster's server or separated?

    Microsoft has several documents on clustering SQL Server 2000 on Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Server. I suggest you look at that documentation to start. Very usefull.

    it's about a new project for installing cluster:I have two sql server, applications are on the same with sql.I want to separe app from database,it's right to keep app and database om the cluster?

    My manager want to know a hardaware configuration suitable for that.Hard now is ML 350 dual each.

    Well, I am one of those DBA's who will not tolerate anything else but SQL Server on 'my' machines. How can I guarantee uptimes if other applications are using the same machine? If the application crashes the machine, there will be a fingerpointing for who is responsible, and in the meantime my databases are not available. This is something I really do not like...

    Therefore we have seperate SQL machines (two clusters and three single machines) and application servers (six machines).

    If the application is written poorly, you even have the change that the application takes all of the memory and/or cpu power, with the result your SQL Server will not perform.

    What kind of hardware is suitable for your databases is not easy to tell. You probably know the best what your applications use...
