    Is there any performance difference compare to GROUP BY Vs DISTINCT,

    SELECT DISTINCT FNAME

    FROM TBL

    OR

    SELECT FNAME

    FROM TBL

    GROUP BY FNAME

  • No. check the exec plans. They're identical.

    Personal preference - if distinct rows are wanted, use distinct. If aggregates are needed grouped by one or m ore columns, use GROUP BY
