I was very comfortable with SQL 2000 DTS. I had to write an SSIS package for the first time a couple months ago and managed to struggle through using Books Online and much trial and error. There definitely is a learning curve you gotta climb.
Now we are using SSIS during a mainframe migration project that demands the use of much more SSIS functionality. I finally broke down about spent $50 on the book by Brain Knight, et. al. "Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services" published by Wrox ISBN: 0764584359.
I can highly recommend it. It supplies a comprehensive overview of the functions available in SSIS; useful code examples and a case study of an implementation of an SSIS process.

SSIS is a very steep learning curve. Worse if you knew DTS well.
The book you mention is well worth it and helps a create deal...
Cheers,CrispinI can't die, there are too many people who still have to meet me!It's not a bug, SQL just misunderstood me!

Ed and all:
Thanks so much, I got the book you mentioned and will do the exercises that the book presents.
The paradigm must be similar to DataStage, but the implementation seems much different.
Hmmm, late night reading it looks like.
Thanks again
Jim
