Granting access for NT ID for BI for SQL 2005/Analysis Svcs

  • I know I need to grant the NT ID access in SQL Server and at minimum data_reader to the db they want to access. But, what other access do they need ? Any server access ? We are in a proof of concept of some test data to kick the tires and see if we can utilize ANalysis Services 2005 SP2 on 64 bit.... this is all new to me. I granted a user these rights and they attempt to use their PC BI tools to access it and it states

Login failed for user 'GLOBAL\ABCDE01'. [CLIENT: 10.999.999.999]

    Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11.

  • Are they attempting to access SSAS directly? You will need to grant them access to SSAS as well. Connect to SSAS via Management Studio, right-click server, select properties, select security in left-hand nav.

  • Yep, that was it... thanks a million.
