Hi all,
Can you please suggest me how to make soft relationship with my boss since we are not working at same location we are in different locations i moved to onsite after that there is no communication with me because here i'm junior previous people are handling all activities with my boss like sending mails reporting and phone calls they are not giving any chance to co-ordinate with my boss even they are not sharing any important information with me..i'm only working working...that's it...
Please suggest me how to handle this issue.....:-)

The first step is to make sure your boss, and everyone else, knows who you are, what you are there for, and to find out from them what they expect/want from you. Get yourself known, and make sure you know them as well. This doesn't have to be some kind of over-social, "I like bicycles and kittens and chess" type thing. It needs to be, "My name is Bob, and I'm the new database developer. I'm really good at writing SQL queries, and am interested in expanding into database administration. What do you need and want for me to be a fully functional team member?" (Of course, don't just copy that. Needs to be written from your situation.)

Thanks for your reply GSquared,
I want to tell more about me and my company..I'm working since 4 years in X-company this is my parent company here i had a good manager he recognized my hard work and he given me lift in all aspects and he handed me to higher management because he referred me to work in the client location which i'm working now this is another Y-company here i suppose to work for them this company got a project from one government organisation Z-company so this is my final work location in this Z-company we have our immediate manager they are giving work and we are doing it they don't know our X-company they know only Y-company now the problem i'm facing here is my X-company manager i don't know him very well but he is only giving appraisals and ratings. i couldn't contact my first manager because he assigned to another project..i didn't get any good ratings for the last year.i couldn't coordinate with him directly because he in the very high position i scared some times about him. i started to work for the client since one year in this period neither i talked to him nor send a mail.
i thought there is no point if i make call and simply telling about me or sending a mail with a story..i need good ideas to approach him...
Please try to understand my situation and help me....!!!!!!

The solution is more communication with him. Keep it simple, keep it short, but keep it going regularly. It will help.
If he's actively hostile, that's a different situation entirely. If he is deliberately trying to intimidate you, that's not the same thing at all. Most likely, though, he's not, and simple, professional, friendly communication, on a regular basis, will almost always help.
All human relationships are built on communication. The other two factors, not as important but they do matter, are degree of agreement, and degree of friendliness. Increase those things, even slightly, and the situation will solve itself, eventually or rapidly.
If early communications are met with resistance, that almost doesn't matter. Keep trying. Just make sure they are easy to agree with, and professionally friendly.

Start by communicating more with the senior people in your team. That sounds like the way to go, in my opinion.

I don't know of a forum for that kind of thing. I know there are classes on communication skills, and on how to deal with people in various scenarios. Would one of those help?
