Going after my MCSA SQL Server 2016 and need MOC recommendations.

  • As above. My employer has allocated $5,000 for my education in this budget and I have to use it or lose it. I want to get my MCSA for SQL Server 2016 and am trying to pick a MOC provider. TechSherpas is desirable on paper because of the exam voucher you get and access to exam prep, but I don't know anything about them. Does anyone have experience using them or have a provider recommendation? I also looked at Global Knowledge but they only offer course 20765 and I need both that one and 20764 for my exams.

  • The old exams are no longer valid.  The MCSA/MCSE path has been retired for some years now.

Please take a look at the new DP exams, DP-300 would be the replacement here.

While you can still find people who offer training, the exams are no longer valid and you won’t be able to book on them to pass and get the certificates.

  • If you're looking for truly legit certification courses, I'd suggest starting with Microsoft. There, they list a bunch of partners that offer up-to-date training. If you want online, Pluralsight is good. Udemy is pretty good and LinkedIn is OK. They also have certification prep courses. However, as was stated, make sure you're prepping for the latest, because they just don't offer old ones any more.

  • Does it has to be Certification only? Can you use it in some other training? If it is for your education

I could, perhaps, just be not finding it but they don't appear to offer any certifications on just SQL Server anymore.  They keep pushing "Azure" even if you aren't likely to ever go there.  If that's true, that's a real shame.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

I noticed the same thing. You click on a cert or exam and it says "expired" please review the list of certifications, and it takes you back to the same list of expired exams. Unless you have access to a full Azure environment, the two tests I found would be exercises in book learning. I know you can set up free tier Azure access, but it's not the same as working with something every day.
