Getting the size in bytes of an XML Field

I was just wondering if it possible to get the size of an XML field stored in sql via a TSQL query?

I thought that this would have been quite straight forward.. (and it is, as you can see)
The way to do this is:
DATALENGTH(XML FIELD)
Im rather surprised that no one knew this!
