Hi, I asked the System Administrator to install Outlook on a server so I can receive email on various jobs that run. He did so and we received a message from the server. Now I need to do something to get SQL to send mail. I can't find simple instructions or steps on what to do next. We do not have exchange, I think we set up a POP3 service. Are there SIMPLE instructions out there? I read something about a profile. thanks,

You have to configure an eMail-Account while you're logged on as the user under which SQL-Server-Agent normally runs (creating a "profile"). Then log off and choose this profile in Enterprise Manager as the one to be used for your notifications and SQLmail.
That was the short and "easy" one. If you want to do it right, you may want to google for "setting up sqlmail" - there are tons of step-by-step-guides for setting up eMail-functionality in SQL-Server, even without Outlook and/or Exchange.
