Get a dataset to display contents in Report Body

  • IN RS 2005 - when I create a new report using the Wizard, the Body of the report is auto populated w/ my dataset contents.

BUT - when I create a Report as NEW ITEM (selecting Report) -- I create my dataset and it renders data.  NOW - HOW DO I get the dataset to appear in the body of the report?  (what Report Item should I select fromt the toolbox to drag on to the body?)

  • dragged & dropped a "TABLE" from the toolbox then manually began to type Header column names & individually right mouse click on each DETAIL cell supplying =Fields!xxxxxx from the "Value" drop down.

    ALTER EGO

  • In addition to the method DBASkippack outlined, you can also drag the columns from the "Fields" window into the detail line of the table control, and it will automatically put the column names into the header row for you (which is fine if you want them only in the report header and not page header). If you use the mix-cased naming convention, such as "UserFirstName", it will even add a space between the words for you.
