Im seeing a lot of articles at

with publication dates in the future.

Those are typically articles that have already been published, and are on the re-publish list. That future date is when it will be re-published (notice that they mention "first published"...)

Accepted , but in that case shouldn't they be positioned at the original publication date until he republish date has been hit ?

They should, and I've asked for this to be fixed. It's logged as a bug, but a low priority one. That page doesn't get many reads.
