I recently ran DBCC SHOWCONTIG on a database and the results showed me that I had several system tables that were quite fragmented. What can be done to defragment these tables since DBCC REINDEX and DBCC INDEXDEFRAG are not allowed on system tables? And why can these commands be used on "system" tables having to do with replication, but not on the "system" tables that are in each database by default?

That question has popped up before in this group. http://www.sqlservercentral.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9129&FORUM_ID=5&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=Maintenance%20on%20system%20tables&Forum_Title=Administration
I am pretty sure there was another spot but as of yet I still haven't found a way.
