Some time ago my SQL installation on my development machine went sideways. I saved all the data, but I can't run anything (EM, QA, the server itself, etc.) All I get is a notice that says "The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
However, reinstall didn't work. Neither did uninstall. I even booted up in safe mode and deleted the directory, but that didn't work either. Maybe there are registry settings that I have to delete as well. I'm always very cautious about monkeying in the registry.
Can any provide a step-by-step recipe that will forcibly delete all components, reg settings, etc. of SQL 2000 and Yukon? Then maybe I can start again.
I do have a genuine server and another development machine on which SQL is running fine, so I'm not paralyzed, but I really want to get the instance on the development machine working, too.
Thanks in advance!
