Yes, but I have to go to my DBA to make these kind of changes and it is not easy with our DBA. With CTE, I can do it myself.

Gotcha...and I was incorrect in my previous post anyway. I had forgotten that you cannot cascade deletes on a self referencing foreign key constraint. That won't work.

What you might be able to do is put that CTE in a delete trigger.

You don't have to call it that in your real code but yes. That one removes all orphans. If you ran that when a row was deleted from the table it would clear out any orphans.
You would probably want to modify the code so it only touches the deleted rows instead of the entire table though.

You're welcome. Let me know if you need some help converting to a delete trigger. You would use the deleted virtual table instead of the base table.
