Anyone come across a way to automate finding candidates for filtered indexes from the DMVs?

Can you expand on what you're thinking?
The missing index DMVs (if those are the ones you mean) will never suggest filtered indexes, it's one of their limitations. I think it would take a lot of knowledge of the DB and a fair bit of investigation to tell if a suggested index could be made filtered or not.

Gail,
exactly, I was just wondering if anyone has come across a script that can query the DMVs for filtered index propositions.
Long shot, I know...:ermm:

As I said, I think it would take a lot of knowledge of the database, the queries and the data to be able to say whether an index should be filtered or not.
