FileStream in Second database , is Practical ?

  • Hi

there is a server which contains a 100 GB main Database on it. (We also have HA - Alwayson availability Group)

there are about 1,000,000 pics on a Filesrever which are used by our App. (totaly about 200 GB)

I want to get All these Pics into DB with Filestreaming technique. (sql server 2014 and windows server 2008 R2)

But Our database size would increased from 100 gb to 300 gb suddenly !!!! .

Our Risk would be increased in :

1- size of database (specially in urgent times and in backup, restore Processes)

2- we have HA- Alwayson availability Group that I am not sure support this feature.

    I have an offer:

I Create Second database , make a table on it and get all pics in filestream .

them our app use these 2 databases as the same time. and I dont have the risk of size dataabae increase.

    Is it practical?
