Features of msbi 2008(ssis2008,ssas2008,ssrs2008)

  • Hi,

Hope there would be a category for "Business Intelligence" under SQL Server 2008 also( as i didn't knew where to post this Q).

I was told to find the features of msbi 2005(ssis,ssas and ssrs) and msbi 2008 and to assess the striking features that would make/induce the company to upgrade from 2005 to 2008 version.

I am told to give a ppt on this topic. I am a newbee in this business intelligence field.

So any help would be appreciable.

    Thanks

  • Lots of new features that you can take advantage of with database encryption, backup compression, auditing, change data capture, policy based management, ssis thread management, ssis data profiling task, ssis lookup improvements, ssis cache transform, ssrs memory management, ssrs data visualizations (dundas charts, graphs, gauges), ssrs tablix (table + matrix), ssrs rich textbox support, report builder 2.0, ssas star join optimization, ssas subspace computation, ssas designer enhancements (dimension and aggregation), etc. I won't be able to name them all, but that is a small taste. Download the essential backpack files for 2008

There is so much content I could continue on, but this should be plenty to get you started.

I have also been wondering about the SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence category. I think we need to remove the version label and just have a Business Intelligence category. This seems to get questions for any version anyways and this is where I spend my time responding.
