  • Week 5 is in the books. Quite a few changes. Go Bolts are no longer undefeated, dropping to 2nd in their division, and from 1st to 5th overall. SQL Bolts made a dramatic move going from 3rd to 1st in their division and from 10th to 4th overall.

This coming week will definately be another interesting one.

    Good Luck to all.

  • OK, I think I'm a jughead, but need some of you to weigh in. I thought that the waiver priority changed every week, based on your overall ranking in the league...apparently that's not the case. I've gone thru the settings looking to "flip that switch", can't find it. Looks like I need to update manually. Anyone with commish experience on Yahoo that can verify?

BTW I hate waivers, have already lost some key players this year because of it.

If I can't find the switch, I'll manually update the order each week, based on overall ranking the league.

I think this site explains it: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/sports/fantasysports/football/rules/frules-13.html

In Public Leagues, the priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time you add a player to your roster, you're pushed to the back of the list. The team with the lowest waiver priority is always the team that completed the last successful waiver claim. This "rolling" list stays in effect for the entire season.

Sheez! I can't even beat the Brits! 😛

Granted, I still have two in play tonight, but I find it very unlikely that I'll make up 50+ points!!!

Ha, that's another one in the history books for the Brits. 😎

Roll on next week, let's see who else can feel the bite of the Bulldogs, lol. 😀

  • This week killed my team, my defense (Steelers) were on a bye and my running back decided to only get 24 yards total.

  • Sometimes I wonder how much rides on getting the best players from the start. It seems to me that the players you start the game with determine your success more than anything else. Later in the season, it may not matter as much with injuries and such, but I'd say a good 60% of your fantasy team's power is decided right from the start. But I'm kind-of "shooting from the hip" here. I'm wondering how other people view this.

  • In a 16 team league, it's very difficult to get much in terms of pick ups.. You need to have a solid draft and of course luck that your players stay healthy. One devastating injury could sink your team for the season.

  • I agree. 16 teams is slim pickin's on the waiver wire, add to that a waiver priority and it's very difficult to get the additions you need. My other leagues are "add at will", makes it much easier to shore up your holes.

I usually have made my draft picks, then dropped my second kicker and defense to get the extra horses not picked up in the draft, or in the first week or two.

  • So the moral is - those who are tanking at this, take heart. A lot boils down to who you (or the auto-picker) picked in the draft! 😀

I wonder what it would be like to play where everyone could have exactly who they wanted, even if the player was on someone else's team in your league? Would we all end up with basically the same team = no fun? :hehe:

  • Those leagues are a BLAST! Basically you start out with a total pool of money, then have stay under your salary cap. Each player costs what he does in real life. Did that in the NBA, was a ton of fun.

  • Only one top matchup this week:

DBCC Go Team (3-2) vs PowerPivotPro (3-2)

    Others:

SSC Steelers (2-3) vs Ditka (3-2)

    Way0utWestCowboys (2-3) vs Left Outer Join (4-1)

Texas Engineers (2-3) vs Huskies (4-1)

Orange Engineers (1-4) vs YellowHammers (2-3)

    @speedracer (2-3) vs GoBolts (4-1)

SQL Bolts (3-2) vs NFLSoldiers (0-5)

British Bulldogs (3-2) vs BoomerSooner! (2-3)

Can the soldiers finally get a win (only if they don't start Jonathan Stewart, who's on a BYE week)?

Will PPP keep atop division 1?

Will the Brits get beaten by Manning and the Colts D?

Answers come on Tuesday, make sure to get those lineups in!

  • Yeah, the Brits got beat by Manning and the Colts 'D', by the narrowest of margins. Gutted!

  • Watch out for Boomer Sooner! I am getting hot taking down the big boys...

  • Doh! Forgot to setup 3 positions and still within 20 points. Guess it's time for an Outlook reminder.

  • Steve, Thanks for the gift win.. Amazingly, it took for your QB to be on a bye, your RB ruled inactive, your WR who hasn't done anything all season, and your K benched in your active line up for me to get the 1 point win..
