Hello All,
One of our SQL server 2005 boxes ran out of memory. After restarting the SQL services all was OK.
System details: Server 2003 R2 x86 SP2, SQL 2005 SP1, 2GB of memory.
SQL Logs: In the SQL Logs, we got: "Failed Virtual Allocate Bytes: FAIL_VIRTUAL_RESERVE 589824"
Then we got a lot of: "Error: 701 Severity: 17 State: 123: There is insufficient system memory to run this query" along with lots of errors like:
Memory Manager
VM Reserved = 1742448 KB
VM Committed = 1665968 KB
AWE Allocated = 0 KB
Reserved Memory = 1024 KB
Reserved Memory In Use = 0 KB
Investigation:
It’s not the Service Broker error described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959007
The Temp DB size was not 100% utilised, so this does not apply here: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic715463-146-1.aspx#bm747037
It does not relate to linked server query bug described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937033
Does anyone have any other idea’s, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan. 🙂
