Failed to obtain TransactionDispenserInterface

  • Hi,

Today I rebooted the Active node of cluster server, After the reboot I am seeing the below Error Messages in SQL Server 2000 ERRORLOG

    2009-02-24 05:44:14.50 spid4 Starting up database 'master'.

After seeing the above error message, I checked the MSDTC service it is running fine, MSDTC was started little bit late it was started at 2009-02-24 05:59 i.e after the SQL Server service start.

    Here my question is

    1) The above error message only due to the MSDTC Service started late?

    2) is there any specific reason for the above effor message?

    3) Did any one faced the same problem?

    Thanks in Advance.

  • This Microsoft Support article seems to address the issue that you're experiencing:

    Thanks,

  • Hi thanks for the reply,

the KB says it is applicable to 2003 OS and AWE enabled.

Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition (32-bit x86)

Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition (32-bit x86)

In my case I have Win 2000 server and AWE is not enabled.

  • 1) The above error message only due to the MSDTC Service started late?

    Yes.

I have experienced it in the past . I am 100% 2005 now and it has been a long time since I have rebooted my servers but I belive is not a major problem. If you can ( and need to) run distributed transactions you are OK.
