I've got an RDL which has a matrix in it. When I run it, it renders my data fine, but when I export it to Excel it only shows some labels but no data; just a gray empty background. I've attached a screenshot with the RDL snap on top and the Excel snap at bottom. Hopefully somebody has run into this weird issue and know how to resolve it.
thx,
John

Could it be the fact the rows are collapsed? Maybe the rows have to be expanded when you export?

I ran in to the similar situation few months back and the reason for this is: for 2005 reporting services, Excel does not support the nesting of the data regions.
But later microsoft fixed that in 2008 reportin services.
Did you put any data regions inside or outside the matrix? if yes, that could be the problem for the Excel. Try removing such instances of the design.

I know that you can not export to excel if you have subreports. When a report with subreports is exported it shows a row with errors. This doesnt seem to be what is happening with the output in the attached doc.
Further down the forum I was reading a suggestion about using a list instead of a subreport when exporting to excel.

It's not b/c the rows are collapsed. We have several reports w/hidden rows and no issue.
There are no subreports in this report, so that's not it either.
I did notice that the matrix is nested inside a group row, so that may be it. I'll try to replicate the matrix outside of it and export to Excel to find out.
thx,
John
