Explanation of Icons in Management Studio

  • I was wondering if one of you could possibly point me to a legend that explains various graphic icons within Management Studio ?

In particular, Im curious what the red down arrow means, under Security\Logins.

    Thank you

  • Red arrow means that login is disabled. You can enable it using right click login-->properties-->status option.

    Manu

  • Thank you.

Do you know if there is some sort of explanation for other graphic icons in SQL Server 2005....I would think somewhere in BOL, but havent found anything yet

  • I'm not sure there is. However if you (or someone else) wants to write an article to explain it, let me know!

  • Look for me at the next PASS conference, as primary speaker on 'icons'

    😉

  • I take it the magical Icon table was never created?

Here is a stumber then to add to the discussion. What does the Red arrow pointing down on a icon for a policy listed under Policy Management -> Policies mean?

The policy does Evaluate true for all items (db's) i.e. Green check mark the last two times i ran the evaluation and I have also refereshed the branch and the entire console
