Expired Evaluation Copy

  • I am in need of help.....

I just assigned to manage the computer systems for our company and I am starting to discover many things that are not setup correctly.  We are getting ready to move to from a Progress database to SQL2000 and this project was started last summer.  I just found out that the SQL version that was loaded was the evaluation version and not the full version.  This was discovered since the people doing the actual conversion are ready to begin testing a sample of the database.

I have the SQL 2000 discs and load them on to the system.  According to Microsoft I should be able to install the disc and select upgrade my existing installation and select no for adding any additional componets.  The side note stated that this will not working for clustered installations.  I am not sure if it is clustered or not.  There is no data within SQL at this time but it is located on the same server we are currently using for our current Progress database.

Any help on getting this operational would be great.

  • If you only have the one Sql Server then your installation is not clustered. You should be able to upgrade as instructed.

  • Thanks for the response.

My server has two processors and I have two discs for processor licensing.  Will I have to load each disc using the same method or is there something else I will need to do?

  • To be totally honest, I don't know.

There's a very brief article about upgrading here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281574/

Sorry I can't be of more use.
