If I am not wrong in India at present you can ask around 20% more on the currnet salary.
But still Depend on Company, requirement, roles & responsibilities etc....

you may get anywhere between INR 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs here for 3 yrs of experience. That depends on your candidature and company. some companies are giving hike more than 20%... may be upto 40-50% in some cases...

Actually am havng total 7+yrs experience in diff technology and domains. Now I decided to stick to SQL DBA (Almost 2 yrs exp in DBA). But now am worried about my salary. It's 4.5 lac.Due to recession dint get 2 increments as well.
Bit confused on how to move ahead. Very much interested in SQL DBA. But don't know it's demand and salary we can get.

Next question, annual or monthly salary?

With 7+ yrs of total experience and 3 yrs of SQL DBA experience in SQL 2005, you can certainly command a hike of 30% from your current salary. Again depends on the following factors:-
1) Company that is offering you the position
2) How well you answer the technical interview, If you have good DBA skills and if the company is in urgent need of a DBA, then they might be willing to hire you even by giving 40% to 50% salary hike!
3) Location of the company, e.x. Bangalore, Mumbai pays more than small cities.
Again, if you are a good proven DBA, you should be getting between 6 to 6.5 lakhs (12,500 USD to 13,500 USD) per year in current market scenario. If you get more then you are lucky!
All the Best !

Hah, Agreed, Though I assume you could live like king henry off of 12,000 USD monthly in india.

Not anymore dude ! I am assuming you are talking about 12K USD per year and not month. It's getting expensive there in India. To live like a king you need atleast 40K USD/year especially in bigger cities of India nowadays.

Wow... That's impressive, Has a trend started towards outsource to even more remote area's yet? There was a similar trend in mexico with the manufacturing base during the late 90's... I'm a little curious. 40K a month is sick money.

I said 40K per year and NOT month. Yes, if you want to live like a king then you need that amount or even more in India now.

That depends where you are located and what the market will bear. Not growing that much here.
