Excel export problem

  • Hi all,

I'm having a problem with one particular report on my system.  It is a dump of some raw data, almost 38k rows, but only 8 columns.  I can access the report fine via the report viewer (it generates in about 14 seconds).  However, when I try to export to Excel, after about 3 minutes I get the following "Page cannot be displayed" error message...

    10060 - Connection timeout

    Internet Security and Acceleration Server

    Technical Information (for support personnel)

    • Background:

The gateway could not receive a timely response from the Web site you are trying to access. This might indicate that the network is congested, or that the Web site is experiencing technical difficulties.

When I run this on my local copy, it works fine.  I think the problem is that we are based in the UK but the servers are based in the US.  I've tried using cached copies and snapshots, but these do not work either.  Also, similar reports, with more than 38k rows, return in a timely fashion.  I've also checked IIS settings on the remote server, and cannot see anything obvious.  Also, the report server ExecutionLog table says the Excel task has a status of rsJobWasCanceled.

    Any ideas anyone, I'm stumped!!?

    Thanks!

  • IIS timeout has occurred. Check IIS Connection timeout setting on your Reportserver. Does not sound like a huge report, so not sure why the timeout occurs. This is by default about 120 seconds.

Export to .csv and check for blank rows as well. had a case where blanks caused overflow errors on badly generated report.
