Excel export....

    Hi all,

    I have a DTS package to export the data to an MS-Excel file. How can I make sure that the Excel sheet is not open another user, and get a lock on the excel file until the DTS transfer is complete?

    As far as I know you cannot.

    Only hint I can give is to export data to another excel file and run a copy job overnight.

    I found that having DTS create a table and then linking to that table from Excel workd great. You can always have excel set up to create a permanent copy of the data within the Excel spreadsheet if you like.
