Exam 70-445 Question

  • I'm getting ready to take the SQL 2005 MCTS cert exam, b/c the company where I work, we're still using SQL 2005, but I'm wondering since there's SQL 2008 out there now, and there's a new version of this exam (70-448), is the 70-445 going to be retired at some point, and will I be forced to wait until my employer upgrades to SQL 2008 to take the 70-448, which we don't think will happen in the forseeable future.

I'm targeting Mid August, 2010 as the exam date. Hopefully 70-445 will still be around then.

    thx,

    John

  • The SQL Server 2005 tests will remain as long as mainstream support is in place for SQL 2005, which Microsoft hasn't yet announced an end of mainstream support date for SQL 2005 so presumably the tests for SQL 2005 will be around for at least another couple of years.

My advice would be to study hard to take and pass 70-445 followed by 446 to get MCITP: BI Dev cert for SQL 2005, and then when company does move to SQL 2008, start studying for the 455 test (upgrade from 2005 to 2008 test). That approach will net you a total of 4 certs.

  • Will do. Awesome information.

    thx,
