    Can someone recommend the best books , practice tests (free, if available) and other resources that can be used to prepare for exam 70-228 ?

    In my opinion, MCSA/MCSE/MCDBA Self-Paced Training Kit: Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 System Administration, Exam 70-228, Second Edition, is the best book: http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/6799.asp 

    It includes the practice test CDROM which really helps.

    Hi there,

    actually i prefer using practice tests. Especially the practice tests from Testking are very good in my opinion One thing's for sure : Reading the official MOC material from Microsoft isn't enough. As i recall there is about 45 questions in the test. The answers for the 5 of the questions is to be found in another material and for 5 others you sure have to know your "Books online". For instance I got a question about C2 auditing that is not stated anywhere else than in BOL But good luck

    Hi Vidas,

    There is a free practice test trial for 70-228 on http://www.measureup.com. The other practice test site is http://www.selftestsoftware.com. I agree with Bobby that books only are not enough, you will definitely need to do practice test and books online. I learnt a lot from the questions & answer at the end of each chapter of the Self-Paced Training Kit, and also from the CDROM. I found that practicing/using Profiler, PerfMon and DTS really helped as there were some questions on them on the exam. Good luck with your exam.
