Event ID 17177

  • Hi,

Upon checking out the SQL Server error messages in  the Event Viewer in Windows, I came across the following error message:

This instance of SQL Server has been using a process id of 1916 since 3/2/2006 12:33:48 AM….. (Even ID: 17177)

I searched Google for a possible explanation for this message. Unfortunately, all I learnt was that it is an informational message and can be ignored. I would appreciate if somebody shed some light on why this message is generated, what it means and what the process id being referred to in the error message exactly is.

    Regards,

    Karim
