Thanks in advance

How long did the backup take?

To add to what SQLBill says, it's been my experience that--all else being equal--restores take longer than backups, ranging maybe from 10% to 25% longer. (Hard drive space has to be allocated, and other fussy management stuff.)

Backup takes about 32 minutes

Restore should take under 1 hour....I would guesstimate that it would be about 40-45 minutes.

Just a couple of other points to factor in ... did you perform the database backup to disk or directly to tape ? Will the restore be from disk or directly from tape ? Also, the time of day and present user/server load may also add some time as well.
