Error while creating Publication.

  • Hi all,

I am new to this world of Merge Replication and trying to create new Publication. But getting the following error.

Can anyone help me out in this....

    The ERROR IS :-

SQL Server could not create publication 'TechniquePublication'. (New Publication Wizard)

    ------------------------------

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

    ------------------------------

Cannot create the agent job. '@job_login' must be a valid Windows login in the form : 'MACHINE\Login' or 'DOMAIN\Login'. See the documentation for 'sp_addpublication_snapshot'.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Neeta.

  • Error seems pretty self explanatory. What login are you using?

How are you creating the publication? via the GUI or via script? If it's via script, can you supply the script?

  • Hi Phill,

             Thanx for your reply.

I am creating it though Publication Wizard of SQL Server 2005.

When I reach to Snapshot Agent Security step It is asking me Windows Account information like

    1) Process Account

    2) Password

    3) Confirm Password etc. So what details I need to provide here??

I could create it using the option Run under the SQL Server Agent Account. So can you please me about both of the above options.

    Regards,

    Neeta.

  • You can use sql agent account provided the account should have permission

to read and write into the snapshot folder.

I have assigned the domain account to both sql server service and agent service and it is working fine.
